Rabbis for Human Rights: A Prayer for the State of Israel

This post presents the English and Hebrew texts of a prayer for the State of Israel that encourages people to return to the root of Yom Ha’atzmaut, and pray for the realization of the vision laid out by the Israeli Declaration of Independence. There are two slightly different versions of this prayer — one intended for Israelis, and the other for non-Israelis. This prayer was written by Rabbis for Human Rights, an organization of Israeli rabbis who inform the Israeli public about Israel’s human rights violations and pressure the State to redress these injustices. Led by Jewish tradition, these rabbis fight for the safety and welfare of the stranger, the different, and the weak in Israeli society.
