From the website of the Gems in Israel Tour Company, this article tells the story of Tel Hai, one of the first four Jewish settlements in the Galilee and site of the legendary Battle of Tel Hai. Since the purchase of the land known as Talha by Baron Edmond de Rothschild in 1893, the region was settled by farmers who cultivated the fields while defending its security. After a brief period of abandonment, the land was resettled and renamed Tel Hai in 1918. On March 1, 1920, a local Arab militia attacked the Jewish agricultural settlement, resulting in the death of eight Jewish defenders, including the legendary Zionist hero, Joseph Trumpledor.
