Israeli DJ Borgore is known for his over-the-top, jaw-dropping lyrics, videos, and musical style, but in this interview (7:02), you’ll see a softer side. Born and raised in Tel Aviv (as Asaf Borger), Borgore speaks here from his L.A. studio about his musical beginnings as a saxophonist in a top-notch private music school. His transition from the local metal scene to the global EDM market was not exactly challenge-free. Since no record labels wanted to take a chance on his heavy, genre-blending style and sign him, he was pushed to spread his music via the internet and eventually to start his own label, Buygore Records. The multi-talented DJ now works as a producer and vocalist as well. He writes and performs all his own music and, while you don’t need to love his taste, you can’t deny the talent behind the controversy. Borgore has thousands of devoted followers around the world and headlines some of the best-attended international music festivals.
