In this video [03:09], produced by the Ewing Marion Kaufman Foundation, serial entrepreneur and venture capitalist Jon Medved explains how Israel has become highly successful in the international field of start-up companies and entrepreneurship. Though Israel is barely bigger than New Jersey, it has almost as many startups as the entire continent of Europe. Medved credits much of Israel’s success in the start-up industry to certain aspects of its culture, specifically compulsory army service, which helps prepare bright young individuals to jump into the start-up industry.
