This post presents an alternative English version to the Hatarat Nedarim ceremony, in which a person formally annuls his/her vows before Rosh Hashanah. Written by Reb Zalman Schacther Shalomi, one of the founders of the Jewish Renewal movement, which endeavors to reinvigorate modern Judaism with Kabbalistic, Hasidic, and musical practices, this version is written in language that is easy to understand and relate to, for one’s vows are only annulled if he/she understands the words of the declaration.
